The wait for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 might be shorter than we thought. In fact, it won’t be long before we find out the official title of the third and final game in the trilogy. Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently revealed that he and Tetsuya Nomura have narrowed the title down to two choices.

In a recent interview with Julien Chièze (shared by Genki_JPN on Twitter) featuring Naoki Hamaguchi and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 director Guillaume Broche, Hamaguchi revealed, “We’ve narrowed it down to two, and we’ll decide which one it is by the end of this year.” The big question is, what are those two options? Current fan theories suggest the third game might be called Return or Reunion, though the latter seems unlikely given the existence of Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7: Reunion. It’s no surprise development on the trilogy’s finale is going smoothly—Hamaguchi told VGC back in October that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is shaping up well and could even arrive sooner than expected.
"It’s something really satisfying that gamers can get their teeth into, and it’ll be just a brilliant experience that it really should be and has to be. So we’re going to work on that, brush that up even further, and then deliver it in the not-too-distant future. You really can look forward to that climax of the series, and it’ll be exactly what you want it to be. So don’t worry about that. It’s coming, and it’s just as good as you think it is. I’m very confident in the game that I’m making there."
Final Fantasy Fans Don't Have Long To Wait
All will become clear soon
In September, Nomura revealed that Square Enix had already finalized the release timing for the game. “Things are moving along really smoothly, and the release timing has already been decided,” he said. “We’re moving forward according to that schedule right now, so please rest assured and be patient.” How patient we’ll need to be is still unclear, but with an appearance at The Game Awards ruled out, it seems likely we won’t learn Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s title until early 2026. My guess — and it’s purely a guess — is that the release date will be announced alongside the title. Stay tuned.
