Roblox is shutting down Guilded by the end of 2025. After purchasing Guilded in 2021 for $90 million as a Discord competitor for gaming communities, it didn’t gain the popularity Roblox had hoped for. In 2024, Roblox required all Guilded users to create a Roblox account to continue using the app, which frustrated many users and led to a significant decline in activity.

Now, Roblox has decided to focus on one community platform instead of managing two, opting to close Guilded entirely and dedicate efforts to improving Roblox Communities.

The shutdown was announced on September 28, 2025, with Guilded ceasing operations at the end of the year. Roblox plans to integrate some of Guilded’s features, like announcements and polls, directly into Roblox Communities to ensure creators don’t lose everything when the platform closes.

@Roblox_RTC's post has gained over 200k views on X since it went live, sharing news about Roblox shutting down Guilded. Well-known Roblox creators like KreekCraft have responded to the post. The account has been actively spreading the word to ensure everyone is aware that Guilded will no longer be available after the end of this year.

“They bought it just to shut it down. KreekCraft commented under this post. Check their X for past clarifications.“

On September 28, 2025, Roblox announced that it would shut down the Guilded chat app by the end of the year. This update was shared in an official post on the Roblox Developer Forum. Starting December 31, 2025, all chat channels and groups on Guilded will cease to function as Roblox shifts its focus to enhancing its primary community tools.

“Today we’re announcing that the Guilded product will sunset at the end of 2025. Our goal is to help creators build a community with users of all ages in a safe and civil way. Since Guilded is only for ages 13 and up, we are focused on improving Roblox Communities (formerly known as Roblox Groups), rather than investing in two separate products. This means we’ll be making it easier than ever for creators to engage with their entire user community in a single destination directly inside Roblox.“
