Paid Subscriptions?

I have always done a paid subscription on all my communities. due to the inactivity they never took off. but if we can get this site off the ground, I have thought about implementing this. I have perks that can be benefitable to the community such as closed and private clubs Access to a hidden forum and more. What are your thoughts on this

Depends on how it is handled and what the perks and tiers are. I think it has to be more optional than forced to matter, though one of the largest general discussion forums on the web has a required subscription fee to join and participate.

I think you could roll it out in a beta and see how the community handles it and go from there?

I see you have it as $10 a month which if there isn't enough perks then it's not worth it IMO.

Perhaps make the first few subscriptions cheaper just to try to get it off the ground?

$10 is too high, I agree. You'd have to have some serious benefits for that kind of price. If this was a modding community or something, I could understand it.

Maybe $3-5/month would work better.

I have also thought about setting up a Donation thing Those that donate get a title a bigger upload size the ability to create private clubs. or should this be perks for subscriptions

Could just put that all in the subscription plan you just need to make it cheaper for a new forum.

Just make it a lump sump donation perk. If people donate, any amount, they get it. Most people, if they like something, will donate what they can, when they can. You could do a lump sum donation or a monthly subscription.

The only issue I have is I cannot donate via PayPal in New Zealand. Subscriptions I can do no problem but not donations. Rather strange.

Should the VIP Section be a Forum or a Club? If it's a Forum I can set permissions up for the forum a Club I would have to add members manually

Whichever is easiest for you. I would say a forum though because with a club the subscriptions are monthly and can be cancelled at any time so you would need to keep a record and reminder when to remove people.
